An archipelago of seven islands sitting in the Mediterranean Sea, three of which are inhabited. However, between them they have 365 churches - that's one for each day of the year. Staying on the largest island inhabited since 5200 BC. Occupied and ruled in turn by Phoenicians, Romans, Moors, Normans, Sicilians, Spanish, Order of St. John, French and finally the British.

I am hoping to see these two paintings - they are by one of Italy's greatest Baroque High Renaissance painters - a favourite artist of my youngest son.
