One Direction's Louis 'Going Slightly Deaf'

One Direction star Louis Tomlinson has revealed he has been left slightly deaf in one ear after the boyband's string of gigs this year.

During an interview with The Mirror, Tomlinson claimed screaming girls have caused him to develop some form of tinnitus, a condition which can lead to deafness if not treated properly.

Following 1D's recent show in Liverpool, Louis explained that he suffered headaches for three days after the concert, and later experienced hearing problems in his right ear.

The One Thing singer told the tabloid: "I am going slightly deaf in my right ear. It's tinnitus... something like that. All our fans are always very loud, especially Scousers."

A source said to be 'close' to The X Factor group claimed: "Screams during gigs have started affecting the boys on stage.

"They are only young and still developing, so management insist they wear hi-tech earpieces and filters to reduce the volume of the screaming and the music.

"When Louis made his comments he had really bad earache. Thankfully, this has now cleared up but he knows to be careful in future.

"When watching them, even the band's security team and family have to wear earplugs, too."

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin recently revealed that he has been suffering from tinnitus for the last decade, taking part in a campaign called Action On Hearing Loss with Plan B and electro-pop legend Gary Numan to raise awareness.

One Direction can expect more screaming girls at the 2012 MTV Video Music Awards in September, where the lads will be taking to the stage to make their debut at the star-studded event.

They have also been nominated for two Moonmen, including Best New Artist, where they will take on rival UK boyband, The Wanted.
