LOCK HAVEN — Lock Haven has another new store, and this one aims to provide quality vintage clothing for Clinton County residents and beyond.

NASA570, at 215 N. Grove St., opened its doors in January by duo and Williamsport natives Tony and Luke.

"This has been five years in the making," Tony said.

Both have been involved in buying and selling vintage clothing from hats, shoes, T-shirts and some outer wear like sweatshirts and jackets for a number of years before meeting.

"I ran into Luke and I told him about the store I was opening and encouraged him to join me," Tony said.

Tony had already found the space in Lock Haven, and after collecting loads of vintage clothing for the past few years, felt it was finally time to make his dream a reality. And he thought Lock Haven was the perfect place to open up shop.

"I thought that it was a smart idea because it's in between Williamsport and State College," he explained.

Luke said he and Tony hope to provide a community for those in the Lock Haven area who enjoy collecting vintage wear, but don't want to travel to large cities to find what they're looking for.

"We wanted to create a vintage community for people in Williamsport, Lock Haven, State College and in between," he said.

NASA570 is a buy, sell and trade store for vintage wear.

"There's a lot of people that may have bands they like and they can't fit in their old tees anymore. Or they're looking for something new," Luke said.

For Luke, who has been involved in buying and selling vintage wear for about three years, he said the nostalgia factor is a big part of why he enjoys the job and why so many are interested in vintage wear.

"Just looking at everything, it brings back a lot of nostalgia for me," he said. "That's what we like about it, so many people can relate to that feeling."

From a variety of bands, sports teams, classic cartoon characters and styles from the 80s, 90s and other eras, NASA570 has something for anyone who enjoys vintage wear. They offer products for as low as $5 to $10 up to hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars depending on the item.

"We've got the high end, the low end and anything in between," Tony said.

The store mainly sells T-shirts, which is evident by their large T-shirt wall. They also have hats, shoes — such as Yeezys, New Balance and Nike — and sometimes outer wear in the colder months. Although most of their inventory is men's sizes, they also sell some toddler and women's clothing.

They also will buy or trade vintage items. Anyone who may be looking to do so can stop by the store to learn more.

Like the shop, the name it has is very unique and wasn't inspired by America's space program.

"It came from my son, my daughter, their mother and mine's names," Tony said.

"It's basically an acronym for family," Luke added.

Since opening their doors on Jan. 4, Tony said business has been doing well.

"We've got what we call our regulars. It's about seven to 10 people who come chill with us, talk and look at our inventory," he said. "But most of our customers are just walk-ins… who see the shoes or clothes in the window."

Luke noted that some of the customers have driven three to four hours to come to the store for their merchandise.

"It's crazy the demand of this size, but it's because there wasn't a supply for it here," he said.

After waiting so long to open NASA570, Tony is excited to see his dream become a reality.

"It feels really good. Especially to have a partner like Luke. His passion for vintage helped drive me to do this," he said.

For Luke, not only is he excited to be working with Tony, he's also excited to foster this passion in others.

"I'm excited now more than anything to get more people into this. You can see in bigger cities more people involved in vintage than fast fashion," he said. "I'm excited to bring that to people."

Luke added that an overlooked part of shopping vintage is that it's a form of recycling and earth friendly.

"That's often something that isn't highlighted," he said.

NASA570 is open Thursday 12 to 5 p.m. and Friday and Saturday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tony noted they will begin offering store hours on Wednesdays from 12 to 5 p.m. in May.

Retro Fashion Show at the PJ Ahern Home | Texarkana Today - TXK Today

The Texarkana Museums System turns 50 this year! To celebrate this milestone, TMS is hosting 1970s themed events, parties, and programs through the end of the year. On April 24, the P. J. Ahern Home will host a fun afternoon of fashion with a 1970s themed style show featuring outfits from the Texarkana Museums System's clothing and textiles collection. The show will include clothing borrowed from private collectors and vintage clothing dealers in the area.

"Some of the best pieces we have for the show were borrowed from Tonia Chambers, who is in the process of setting up a vintage clothing business," explains Jamie Simmons, TMS Curator. "Jaslyn Ebron, Tika Rowe and Isabella Rowe are vintage clothing enthusiasts who will be modeling some of the clothing in their own collections. It's a wonderfully eclectic mix of styles that really speak to the individuality that defined the decade, all against the backdrop of the Ahern Home's historic interiors."

TMS is excited to welcome a very special guest model, Carol Collins-Miles, the ground-breaking former model who worked with famed designer, Hubert de Givenchy, and many other fashion greats. She will be wearing select vintage pieces from her own collection.

"Ms. Collins-Miles has always been a big supporter of TMS and we are so pleased to have her participate in the show," said TMS Board President, Velvet Cool.

The Texarkana Museums System's P. J. Ahern Home is 1905 Classical Revival mansion located in the heart of the Quality Hill Historic District in Downtown Texarkana, Arkansas.
